Shipping on Fridays

For years I held the line: no deploys on Friday. It felt responsible — why invite a weekend incident? But I've come around, and the reason has less to do with Fridays than with what the ban was quietly hiding.

A team that can't deploy on Friday can't really deploy on Tuesday either; they've just agreed not to notice. If a release is too risky to ship before the weekend, it's too risky full stop. The fix isn't a calendar rule. It's smaller changes, faster rollbacks, and the confidence that comes from both.

So now we ship whenever the work is ready. Some Fridays that's nothing at all. The point is that the day stopped being the thing we were afraid of.
